Some employees are speaking out saying they were wronged by their former employer.
They claim “ClearEdge Power” in South Windsor shut down unexpectedly which left employees in a bad spot. More than that, they say it violated a federal law. One of them filed a class action lawsuit against the company alleging it illegally closed down without giving 60-days’ notice.
It’s true that under the federal WARN Act, companies employing 100 or more full-time workers are required to give 60 days’ advance notice of a plant closing or layoff. But ClearEdge has argued that its sensitive situation made it exempt from the federal requirement.
Jerry Bogosian quit another job when he was offered a chance to join ClearEdge Power in December.
Little did Jerry know, it would be short stay. His wife, Linda, says it’s devastated the former employees.
“They could have tried to make some kind of plans, maybe job hunt beforehand … make a concerted effortt to save that much more,” she says.
