Connecticut band Addison Station plays around New England and has had shows in places like Miami, Nashville and Maryland.

Lately, they’re looking to book a much bigger gig.

“I just want to play guitar where gladiators fought. I think that’s really cool,” said guitarist R.C. Roberts.

The quintet is in the running to rock out in Rome, Italy. They beat out nearly 10,000 other bands in the “Hard Rock Rising 2014” contest for a shot at an all-expenses paid trip overseas and a chance to perform in front of 40, 000 people.

“You know as musicians, the further our reach, the better. The more people that listen to our music, the more popular we become,” said lead singer Trent Gerbers.

The Hard Rock Rising judges will only consider the 25 bands with the most votes. Addison Station needs a few thousand more online votes in the next few hours to see their dream come true.

Voting ends at 4 p.m. Wednesday. You can vote here: https://www.facebook.com/hardrock/app_205164529573076

Addison Station made countless pitches votes on YouTube, social media through and word of mouth.  But even if they don’t get to come, see and conquer Rome, Gerbers said he feels accomplished.

“I’m really proud of the guys and really proud of the effort we put forth and really grateful for all the people that voted for us,” Gerbers said.
