BRIDGEPORT — A sad story with some light at the end of the tunnel now.

Isaiah McLaughlin, 10, is back in school after missing a few days because his wheelchair ramp was stolen from right outside his family’s home in Bridgeport.

The ramp disappeared on Good Friday and police say it was most likely taken to be sold for aluminum scrap. But without it, Isaiah can’t get to school because the weight of his motorized wheelchair is too heavy to lift.

After hearing about the heartbreaking situation, several community members decided to help the little boy out. Kelly Mason started an online fundraising campaign on GoFundMe.com to help cover the cost of building a new, permanent ramp for Isaiah.

The page raised more than $3,000 in just one day, more than double the original goal. Click the link above if you’d like to donate.
