LEDYARD — More than eight years after Anthony E. Hamlin’s body was discovered in a local field, state police are renewing their efforts to find out who killed him.
A group of troopers and cold case investigators Wednesday will once again search the property where the 40-year-old was found on Jan. 28, 2006.
About 8:20 that morning, a passing motorist saw Hamlin face down in the field next to 448 Shewville Road and called 911, state police said. An autopsy performed the next day showed that he died of a homicide, according to Lt. J. Paul Vance.
Hamlin, who lived in Groton, was last seen in the area of the New London Transportation Center about 10:30 p.m. Jan. 27, Vance said.
There is a $50,000 reward for information leading to the conviction of the person or persons responsible for the murder, police said.
