This holiday weekend continues to feature a gradual warming trend as sunshine becomes more prevalent Sunday with nearly full sunshine by Memorial Day.

However, as was the case Saturday, there is still the chance for a few scattered showers and thunderstorms with the potential for heavy rain and even some hail as the cold pool of air aloft will pivot through Connecticut Sunday afternoon.  Some towns may get wet, while other towns could stay dry just down the road.

The good news is high pressure will dominate Connecticut with plenty of sunshine, warmer temperatures and no rain, just in-time to kick off the unofficial start of the summer this Memorial Day.  Temperatures will be in the 70s on Sunday and 80s on Monday across inland Connecticut, 70s along the shoreline.

A cold front will drop south from eastern Canada with a few scattered showers and thunderstorms Tuesday, followed by cool high pressure by the middle of the week with temperatures averaging in the comfortable 70s with low humidity.  Another front will affect the region on Friday with more showers and thunderstorms followed by cool dry weather and sunshine returning by next weekend.
