A Florida Appeals Court on Wednesday dismissed the second-degree murder conviction of ex-FBI agent John Connolly, who was found guilty for his role in a bloody attempt by James “Whitey” Bulger’s Winter Hill Gang to take over jai alai gambling in Florida and Hartford.
A state court jury in Miami, in voting for conviction in November 2008, concluded that Connolly was a secret member of the Winter Hill Gang and provided Bulger with the information that persuaded the gang to kill John Callahan, former president of the World Jai Alai company.
