The National Weather Service said they will be conducting a storm survey Wednesday afternoon in Litchfield county. They said they are planning to detail the results Wednesday evening.

Connecticut Light & Power said there were 1,449 customers still without power at 2:45 p.m.

There was terrible destruction from yesterday’s storm in New Milford and other parts of the state, but perhaps the worst of all – a man electrocuted to death while driving his car.

According to police, the man was driving when power lines fell on it. The caused the car to catch fire and when he tried to get out he was shocked by the live wires. The man has not been identified – he died in a New Milford hospital.

This morning, thousands of people in New Milford are still without power. At last check, 21 percent of Connecticut Light & Power Customers were without power. There is damage across the area.

Powerful wind took trees down and spread debris and folks will likely be spending part of their day cleaning up.
