MILFORD — A 45-foot long commercial fishing vessel was fully engulfed in flames Saturday afternoon by the mouth of the Housatonic River, said Capt. Greg Carman of the Milford Fire Department.
According to a spokesman for the U.S Coast Guard, three people were on board at the time of the fire and all were rescued and accounted for by nearby boats.
The three people were taken to Bridgeport Hospital and the captain of the fishing vessel is suffering from third-degree burns, according to the U.S. Coast Guard.
Along with Milford Fire and the U.S Coast Guard, Stratford, and Bridgeport Fire Department were called to assist in the fire, Carman said.
The fire is under investigation.
