UPDATE: The victim has been identified as Patrick Brannon,  55, of 111 Farm Brook Lane, South Windsor police said Monday.

SOUTH WINDSOR — A 56-year-old local man was killed when his car crashed into a telephone pole early Sunday, police said.

Police and firefighters responded to the crash in the 300 block of Oakland Road around 2 a.m. The man, who was driving a Camaro convertible, left the roadway, hit a parked car and crashed into and broke a telephone pole. He was seriously injured and later died at Manchester Hospital, police said.

The road is expected to be closed until 9 a.m. while utility crews work to repair the damaged pole, police said.

The accident is being investigated by South Windsor police and officers from Metro Traffic Services. Anyone with information is asked to call Officer Stephen Hoover at 860-644-2551.
