World Cup fever has hit Connecticut.

Deadline reports that ESPN’s broadcast of Team USA’s World Cup opener versus Ghana scored huge ratings last night, averaging a 7.0 overnight rating. That’s the highest overnight rating for a men’s World Cup match on ESPN–ever.

For Connecticut the numbers are even better. As you saw in our report last night, the Hartford Outlaws have drummed up an enthusiastic group to cheer on Team USA. The Hartford-New Haven market was the third highest metered market in the country to watch the victory match, rating a 10.1.

Here’s the full list of the top five metered markets for last night’s match:

1. Washington, D.C. (11.8)

2. New York (10.2)

3. Hartford-New Haven (10.1)

4. Boston (10.0)

5. Columbus, Ohio (8.9)
