HARTFORD — A 22-year-old was sentenced to two years in prison Tuesday for his role in a shootout in the North End of the city last summer.

Under a plea deal, Troy Townsend pleaded guilty in Superior Court to a reduced charge of carrying a pistol without a permit. He also admitted he violated his probation from a 2010 drug conviction.

Judge Joan Alexander then sentenced him to two years and one day in prison, followed by 35 months of special parole. The person who was shooting at him had previously been sentenced to more than four years in prison, prosecutor Elizabeth Tanaka said outside of court.

No one was injured in the shootout, which happened in the area of Martin Street on Aug. 29, Tanaka said.

She said Townsend cooperated with the police investigation and confessed to his role.
