Freed Slave Pomp Equality Became Successful Hartford Businessman

Center Cemetery, established in 1709 as Hartford’s second burying ground, is the resting place for many of the original founding families of Hartford. Also buried there is Pomp Equality, a former slave who became a successful shipper on the river.
