While Southington police have now charged 18-year-old Eric Morelli with manslaughter, following the fire related death of 19-year-old Kristen Milano early Sunday morning, there is still a lifetime of healing ahead for her family, which includes five siblings.

The family is receiving a great deal of support from the community, even from people they don’t know.

Among those gathered outside the Milano’s charred apartment Tuesday was a Southington woman, who said she needed to pay it forward as a result of assistance her own family received following a house fire several years ago.

Jennifer LaFleur says she’s helping to organize a fundraiser at Zen Bar, 317 Farmington Avenue (Rt 10), in Plainville, for this Fiday night at 7 p.m.

The money raised will be used for everything from expenses to household items, clothing and food for the family dog.

To get the word out about the event, LaFleur has published the event on a Facebook page she created.
