STRATFORD — A woman found floating off the shore near Short Beach was pronounced dead Friday afternoon, police said.
Amy Golda, of Hamden, was seen at about noon, police said. The woman was taken to Bridgeport Hospital and was pronounced dead about 1 p.m.
The superintendent of Hamden schools said that Golda was the director of fine arts for the school system.
A silver alert was issued by Hamden Police department on Friday but was canceled mid-afternoon.
The incident is under investigation, police said. Police said they are waiting to hear from the medical examiner’s office on the cause of death.
