Hot and humid, with more scattered showers and thunderstorms possible today.  Wet Fourth of July with heavy rains. Silver Lining: Sunshine returns for the rest of holiday weekend, making for the fifth consecutive weekend in a row with beautiful weather.

A stalled cold front across the Hudson Valley will continue to induce thunderstorm development across the northeast with the heavy downpours, gusty winds and vivid lightning.  This front will slowly move across Connecticut and also serve as a mechanism for tropical moisture to move north along the front tomorrow making for a 4th of July wash-out this year.  Though Arthur will miss the Connecticut and stay well off-shore, heavy rain will drench the region with upwards of 1”-2” by tomorrow evening.  Dry High Pressure over the mid-west will dominate our weather for the rest of the holiday weekend with plenty of sunshine, low humidity and clear comfortable nights.  Daytime high temperatures will average in the low 80’s, while overnight lows in will average in the comfortable 50’s, making for great sleeping weather. High pressure will slowly drift off the Mid-Atlantic coast early next week as a southwest flow will develop around the backside of the high that will transport the heat and high humidity back into the northeast as  temperatures will warm up to near 90.

Today: Mostly cloudy, some sun, hot and humid, chance for a few thunderstorms.  High: 85-90. Wind: S 5-15 mph.  Sunset: 8:29

Tonight:  Chance for an early shower, otherwise mostly cloudy, mild and muggy.  Low: near 70.

Friday: Rain, heavy at times, tapering off late in the day.  High: 70’s

Weekend: Mostly sunny, dry and pleasant. High: 80’s. Low: 50’s.
