UPDATE: The suspect has been identified as Thomas Schmit, 20, was charged with larceny in the third degree, possession of marijuana, possession of narcotics and operating without a license. The Connecticut State Police arrested Schmidt at approximately 11:30 a.m.

Police in East Lyme confirmed two schools were locked down Monday morning as a result of a search unrelated to the schools.
East Lyme police said they were looking for a car thief in the area of Interstate 95 off exit 73.
The Lillie B Haynes Elementary School and the middle school were locked down.
