Farmers can count on animals, like raccoons, to steal some of their crops. But in Bristol people are to blame for a recent theft.

The Green Acres Farm says thieves went through 20 rows of corn over the weekend. In all about 2,400 ears were taken. Since corn sells for $6 per dozen, that equals a $1,200 loss.

The farm thinks that whoever took the corn will likely try to make a profit from it.

"That quantity of corn, you can't eat it all yourself, that's a lot of corn," Bob Avolt, the farm's manager, said.

The farm warns future thieves that it's taken steps to protect the rest of its corn crop, but the farm won't reveal what those steps are.
