One of six medical marijuana dispensaries in Connecticut begins taking patients for consultations today.
The Prime Wellness Center of South Windsor is at 75 John Fitch Blvd. It's in the same plaza as a tattoo salon, a beauty parlor and a Chinese food restaurant.
Now open for business, this symbolizes another bench mark in the process of Connecticut becoming a "legal pot state."
In addition to the six dispensaries, there are four legal manufacturers in the state.
Marijuana can be used to treat symptoms of 11 certified illnesses in Connecticut, including cancer, Parkinson's and post-traumatic stress.
No more than two and a half ounces can be dispersed in a 30 day period.
After patients go through their consultations at the Prime Wellness Center of South Windsor, they can pick up their marijuana starting in September.
