Students at RHAM Middle and High School will start the first day of school Wednesday morning.

When they arrive they will be greeted with a new traffic pattern.

This is the first time the new plan will be put to use.

The superintendent said it's a work in progress but the point is to separate cars and buses to keep everyone safe.

The traffic flow has been under the microscope after RHAM Middle School teacher, Dawn Mallory was hit by a parent who backed into Mallory with her SUV last spring.

Following several meetings with community members and a consulting firm the traffic pattern was altered.

Here are some examples that parents, students and staff will notice. Parents will not be able to enter parking areas.

Middle school and high school students riding the bus will get dropped off at the high school. That means middle school students will then have to walk through the high school to get to their campus.

That same rule applies for parents who have children in middle and high school, one drop off location at the high school.

For parents who only have children in one of the schools a different route will be used to guide them.

New signs have been placed throughout the school to direct traffic and speed bumps have also been added.

The superintendent, Robert Siminski will be out analyzing the changes. He said depending on how the day goes the plan may be altered.

Elizabeth Everett is charged in connection to the accident that led to Mallory's death. She is due in court Thursday morning.
