The University of Connecticut football season opened with a game against Brigham Young University.

The Huskies lost 35-10.

Before the game, FOX CT caught up with fans excited for a fresh start and to see Bob Diaco, the new head football coach, in action.

"I love him. He's go what it takes to take this team to the next level. His energy, he wants the Huskies to win and he's going to put a product on the field that's going to win," said Aaron Ryley, a sophomore.

Longtime season ticket holder Dan Riquier agrees.

"We're very enthusiastic about him. Hope for good things."

After the game, some fans were dejected, but most remained optimistic about Diaco and the rest of the season.

"Well, I think they played really well. I mean, BYU is a real good team, so I think they had a lot of spirit, a good crowd, and they'll get better as the year goes on," said Christy Hayes.

"Eh. You know, the season's starting a little slow, but I think they'll get it together. I mean, we might win, you know, five or six games," said Joseph Jones. "It'll be nice to go to a bowl game.

The Huskies take on the Stony Brook Seawolves next and are expected to win.
