A Connecticut elementary school is making a big change to honor one of the children who was killed at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012.

The CREC Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts Elementary School will now be called the CREC Ana Grace Academy of the Arts Elementary School.

Marquez-Greene’s parents, Nelba and Jimmy, are alumni and former teachers of the school. The “Love Wins” campaign, created by Ana Grace’s family, will also be incorporated into CREC’s curriculum.

“We are deeply proud to name the Arts Academy after Ana Grace,” said CREC Executive Director Bruce Douglas. “By doing so, we honor her life and her inextinguishable spirit. The legacy of Ana Grace, and her classmates and teachers, will be forever present in our students and our community.”

An official naming ceremony will take place in the future.
