The man known in East Coast surfing circles as Peter Pan has been teaching people to "hang ten" since 1978, and now he is riding the waves on a stand up paddleboard. Pan, whose real name is Peter Panagiotis, runs the Peter Pan Surf and Stand Up Paddleboard Academy in Narragansett, Rhode Island.

"Stand up paddleboaring is seven days a week all year long," Pan exclaimed.

There are an array of outlets to explore in Narragansett, but Pan prefers taking visitors to paddle along the Narrow River.

"One of the best spots to paddleboard in Rhode Island, in a national wildlife preserve," Pan said.

Aside from the aesthetics of the Rhode Island coast all around, Pan noted that stand up paddleboarding offers more than just good scenery.

"It's excellent exercise, you work your arms, your abs, your shoulders and your back," he said.

Lessons and paddle trips are offered year round. To find out more click here.
