After a Granby man barricaded himself in his house and threatened to shoot officers, he was safely taken into custody early Friday morning, police say.

Granby Police Officers attempted to arrest a Matthew Bromson, 47, of Lost Acres Road at his residence on an outstanding warrant at 6 p.m. Thursday.

Bromson refused to comply, threatened officers, and barricaded himself inside the residence, police said.

He was known to possess a number of handguns and rifles, and repeatedly threatened to shoot officers, officers said.

Negotiator and Tactical elements of the North Central Emergency Services Team responded to assist. Bromson eventually surrendered without further incident at 2:40 a.m. Friday, police said.

No shots were fired and no injuries occurred.

Bromson was charged with threatening, harassment, breach of peace and interfering with a police officer.  He is held on $300,000 bond and appear at Superior Court Enfield Friday.
