Cape Girardeau, Missouri hosted a preview of the highly anticipated movie “Gone Girl” Thursday night.

Most of the movie was shot in the city and many of the extras got a chance to see themselves on the big screen alongside star Ben Affleck.

“I probably have over 300 messages on Facebook just people asking about the movie and what should I wear. This is huge to have a movie filmed right here in Cape is just like nothing we’ve seen before,” said Jennifer Gast, an extra in the movie.

The casting was done in a local school auditorium. Over 5,000 people came in over 10 days for small roles in the movie. A  professor at the school, Jim Dufek, was then asked to stand in as the mayor on the vigil.

When asked what she had to do, one of the extra’s said “I spent one night all night just running after Ben Affleck.”

The town hopes the movie might bring some tourism to Southeast Missouri.

Meanwhile, 20th Century Fox is hoping for a big success. The thriller novel by Gillian Flynn is a New York Times Best Seller.

Neil Patrick Harris, Rosamund Pike and Tyler Perry are also in the cast. Reese Witherspoon is one of the producers.
