Thousands are without power this morning as severe weather moves through the state.

Strong winds and heavy rains caused power outages, car accidents and downed trees around Connecticut.

CL&P reported thousands were without power at times during the morning. As of noon, less than 800 remained without power.

Carrington Road and Cheshire road in Bethany was closed, near the Bethany/Prospect Line.

A car hit a utility pole, the weather is believed to be a factor.

CL&P is on scene as well as state police.

One girl was taken to Yale - New Haven with minor injuries.
