‘Jane the Virgin’ Premiered to Rave Reviews!
We had high hopes for the show, but were delighted to find out that the series premiere of Jane the Virgin provided its network, The CW, with its best Monday night in nearly three years! The Oct. 13th premiere drew 1.63 million viewers, scoring the best adults 18-49 (0.6/2) and women 18-49 (0.7/2) ratings in its time period since the 2012 Gossip Girl finale.
The Los Angeles Times‘ Robert Lloyd has praised “Jane” as “one of the best things to come out of the fall season.”
The Wrap said “(T)hanks to star Gina Rodriguez, who makes the lead character believable and likable, the journey to Jane’s choice (about the pregnancy) and the inevitable consequences that follow make Jane the Virgin highly entertaining and compelling television,” and Entertainment Weekly adds that “Rodriguez ground [the melodrama of the plot] with a warmly genuine performance as Jane, whose relationship with her mother (Andrea Navedo) is already primed to be one of the show’s best features.”
FOX CT reporter Maggie Slysz was able to go down to the Jane the Virgin set before the premiere to interview some of the cast members:
