Former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords will host a round table discussion about protecting women and families from gun violence in West Hartford today.
Giffords, who was shot in the head in Jan. 2011, will be discussing domestic violence and gun violence prevention.
U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.) will attend the event, and he said he supports Giffords' mission.
"Women are five times more likely to die from domestic abuse when guns are in the house," Blumenthal said. "I will continue fighting for stronger legal safeguards and the resources law enforcement needs to protect abuse victims from gun violence."
The event is at Kingswood Oxford School on Kingswood Road in West Hartford.
