BERLIN- Police say a section of the Berlin Turnpike has reopened after a car hit a utility pole.

The southbound lanes have reopened and traffic one lane is open northbound.

The accident happened between Rowley Street and Deming Road near the Citco gas station around 10 p.m.

Newington Police and the Berlin fire department are assisting at the scene.

Several hundred CL&P customers in Newington and in Berlin were without power for a few hours, but power has been restored for most households.
