Safewise, a company specializing in home security and safety, has combined data from 2012 FBI Crime reports, as well as population criteria to bring you a list of the 25 safest cities in Connecticut, based on violent and property crime ratios.
In order to be considered, a city had to have a population over 5,000 and every element of data for both violent and property crime must have been reported in 2012. Violent and property crimes were both reviewed, including murder, robbery, forcible rape, aggravated assault, arson, burglary, vehicle theft, and larceny-theft. The top cities were chosen based on the chance of violent and property crime happening out of 1,000 for each city.
