GRISWOLD – A recent training program for State Police helped a man who had overdosed Wednesday.
In September, Connecticut State Police troopers were trained to administer NARCAN, Intranasal Naloxone, which is given to counteract the overdose of Opiate based narcotics, such as heroin.
On Wednesday, troopers responded with an ambulance crew in Griswold to report of a man in his 40s who was unresponsive.
They determined the patient had overdosed and troopers administered NARCAN. The patient responded immediately, regaining consciousness.
The man was transported to Backus Hospital in Norwich. Police said he is expected to make a full recovery.
