Middletown man arrested for firing BB gun at jogger: Police

MIDDLETOWN – An 18-year-old was arrested for firing a BB gun at a jogger Tuesday evening.

Police said a man jogging on Westlake Drive reported an old Mercedes pulled up beside him and someone in the car fired a BB gun and missed.  Officers searched the area and found an old Mercedes with three people in it.

After stopping the vehicle, officers interviewed the occupants and found a BB gun in a seat pocket. Damien Dempsey, 18 of Middletown, admitted to firing the gun at someone he suspected of breaking into his house. He told police that the other occupants of the car were not aware of his intent to use the gun.

Dempsey was arrested on charges of carrying a dangerous weapon, having a weapon in a vehicle, and reckless endangerment. He was held on $25,000 bond.

    ok, carrying a dangerous weapon? Has the world gone crazy, a BB gun is not a dangerous weapon. He was dangerous and actions really dangerous, but just carrying a BB gun is not.
