Fans of Futurama were devastated when the beloved cartoon ended its seven-year run last September, despite the tumultuous past decade in which the show was considered done for on three separate occasions.
After runs on FOX, Adult Swim, and Comedy Central, Futurama finally came to a screeching halt on Sept. 4, 2013 with a fairly epic and definitely satisfying ending. “Perhaps Futurama will return in another form, on the Internet, or as a puppet show in the park,” series creator Matt Groening said, only to be deadpanned by executive producer David X. Cohen: “As I said three times before, this is definitely the absolute end of the show. I don’t know why nobody believes me when I say that.”
Well, folks, it appears that wasn’t the end, as Sunday, Nov. 9 at 8 p.m. will feature a crossover episode between The Simpsons and Futurama, featuring the entire cast reprising their roles: John DiMaggio, Billy West, Katey Sagal, Phil LaMarr, Lauren Tom, Maurice LaMarche, and Tress MacNeille.
The episode, titled “Simpsorama” will feature rage-robot Bender, who travels back in time to eliminate Bart in an effort to prevent him from destroying the world. While that may seem far-fetched for Bart, he accomplishes this by blowing his nose on a sandwich he places in a time capsule, which then mixes with Milhouse’s rabbit’s foot and radioactive ooze. You can guess where that leads, and it’s up to Bender to stop him.
