Deadly accident closed roads during evening commute in Bloomfield
BLOOMFIELD – Blue Hills Ave has reopened after being closed for several hours between Marguerite Ave and Cottage Grove Road due to a deadly accident.
Police say two cars collided around 12:45 p.m. One car t-boned the other while the car was taking a left turn onto Cottage Grove.
The passenger of the car that was hit, an 82-year-old woman, went into cardiac arrest while first responders were treating her. Officers and fire department officials administered CPR and the victim was transported to St. Francis hospital, but she later died. The driver of that car was also taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
Both drivers involved claim to have had a green light, but the preliminary information shows the vehicle that was traveling west on Cottage Grove Road through the Blue Hills Avenue intersection crashed into the passenger side of a vehicle that was traveling east on Cottage Grove Road and turning left onto Blue Hills Avenue. The woman who died was a front seat passenger in the turning car that was hit.
