STORRS--One UConn women's basketball player is a force to be reckoned with.

Kia Nurse, a freshman guard for the Huskies, is no rookie when it comes to the sport. Nurse is a guard on the Canadian Women's National Basketball Team, and she plays year-round to keep up with her commitments to both teams.

When asked if all the hard work is wearing her out, Nurse was quite definitive: "Definitely not," she said. "My body's been going year-round with basketball since the beginning of seventh grade.

Nurse originally hails from Hamilton, Ontario, and has hopes to one day make it to the world stage, which is what brings her to UConn despite her spot on Canada's team. "[UConn's] a great program," Nurse said. "I have a dream of becoming an Olympian, and that's going to take me being the best basketball player that I can be to help out the Canadian national team, to help out the team here...this was the best place for me to do that."
