NEWTOWN – Newtown High school was placed on “lock in” mode around 1:10 Tuesday afternoon. During that time, visitors were not allowed on school grounds and those inside the school remained in the building. Teaching and learning continued in a normal pattern, according to a statement from the Superintendent’s office.
Officials say a message was sent to parents regarding the incident that prompted the “lock in” at the school. The message indicated a threat was made on social “directly and only to” Newtown High school.
The “lock in” was lifted at 1:55 p.m. and students were dismissed at the usual time.
A community forum was previously planned for 7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Anyone who is concerned can bring it up at the meeting.
