Cooler air has moved into New England and Connecticut today with temperatures finally dropping to near normal levels for this time of year; with even colder air filtering in tonight and tomorrow, setting the stage for a little winter preview. Low pressure developing across the southeastern states today will merge with a front to the west and deliver a band of rain and snow, changing to snow after midnight. This system is a fast mover; therefore, the snow will quickly move off-shore tomorrow morning bringing an end to the snow. Expect a coating to an inch or two across inland and the hill towns with most of the snow accumulating on grassy surfaces. Use caution when driving even though the snowfall will be light with most road ways being wet while a few rural area secondary roads could possibly become lightly snow covered. Remember, it does not take much snow to cause slick conditions. Once the storm moves away, expect cold dry sunny weather Friday and the weekend. By early next week, another more potent storm could potentially deliver snow and rain to southern New England.
