NEW MILFORD – Two women from Danbury are recovering after they were struck by a jeep while crossing Route 7 Wednesday night.

The accident happened around 6:30 p.m.

Both women were struck by a Jeep Cherokee driven by a 26-year-old woman from New Fairfield. The driver did remain at the scene and cooperated with police.

Both of the women who were struck work at the nearby Burger King and were crossing the street to the bus stop.

Officials say the area is not well lit and there is not a crosswalk.

One of the victims is a 21-year-old woman in critical condition at Yale New Haven hospital.

The second victim was released from the hospital and has been identified as a 51-year-old woman.

No charges have been filed in the case and the investigation continues.
