NEW HAVEN — Residents who live along Olive Street in New Haven are calling on city leaders to do something to make the street safer for pedestrians.
This comes after the Oct. 30 death of 81-year-old Dolores Dogolo, who was struck and killed by a car while on a daily walk.
“The neighbor who was killed actually lives across the street from me,” said town alderman Aaron Greenberg. “I live on Olive at Greene and, I know, myself, I don’t feel safe crossing the street. It can feel as much like State Street or another big thoroughfare in New Haven as much as a neighborhood street like the one it is.”
Neighbors suggested options such as speedbumps, stop signs and even cameras.
City leaders say they’ll take a close look at the ideas and work on a solution over the coming weeks.
