NEW HAVEN--Police confirm there was a fatal shooting in New Haven on Warwick Street Tuesday afternoon.  Someone called 911 around 2 p.m.

When police arrived they found Isaiah Conyers, 21, with gunshot wounds. The New Haven man was pronounced dead upon arriving at Yale-New Haven Hospital.

As of 8:30 p.m., police have not released any information about possible suspects, vehicles involved or a motive.

Neighbors said they've seen police activity outside the apartment complex in the past.

"We’ve come home through the years and the police have been here for one reason or another,"  said Vinny, who lives nearby and asked to only be identified by his first name. He added that the area is usually quiet. "We’ve been here for 35 years or longer and it’s relatively calm."

Demet Ganim lives in the house next door and was home at the time of the shooting. She said she didn't hear anything, but noticed all the flashing lights outside. "It freaks me out. It does make me very nervous," said Ganim, who said she was anxiously waiting for her husband to come home.

"I mean, we had this before, after we moved in, we had like five police cars chasing someone down here. I just moved from Germany, so I'm not used to this," Ganim said.

Neighbors we spoke with on and off-camera did not know the victim. Conyers' MySpace page did not not offer much information about him either, except for the obvious: the 21-year-old's life was violently cut too short.

"No neighborhood is exempt from things like that. It can happen in Madison, it can happen here, it can happen in Bridgeport, you name it," said Vinny.
