Arrest made in 2013 death of woman in I-95 incident
FAIRFIELD–An arrest has been made in a fatal incident that occurred on I-95 in April 2013.
On that day State Police responded early in the morning to the entrance ramp at exit 21 for reports of an unresponsive woman in a car. The woman was found in the passenger seat, and she was taken to St. Vincent’s Hospital, where she was pronounced dead at 5:41 a.m.
The preliminary investigation revealed the victim was having a verbal argument with a passenger in the back seat and may have been trying to jump out of the moving car but that the rear-seat passenger was restraining her when she went limp.
The woman who died was later identified as Brenda Hernandez, a Bridgeport resident who was born in 1991.
On Friday the State Police learned that the suspect, Cesar “David” Martinez, 29, would be appearing in court in Bridgeport. He was taken into custody in court, and was charged with manslaughter in the first degree. He is being held on $250,000 and is due in court on Nov. 24.
