MANCHESTER, NEW HAMPSHIRE – Crews from Northeast Utilities are helping to restore power to customers who spent much of their Thanksgiving in the dark.

Over 200,000 customers were originally without power, but that number had been cut in half by Friday morning at 9 a.m. according to Public Service of New Hampshire.

The outages were as a result of heavy snow bringing down power lines on Wednesday.

“Despite extensive damage, we have made excellent progress in restoring our main circuits,” said William Quinlan, President and COO of PSNH. “With the support of workers form our sister companies and other crews from throughout the region, we anticipate substantial completion of our restoration efforts by Monday, with many communities being fully restored over the weekend.”
Crews from Alabama, Massachusetts, Michigan, Quebec and Ontario traveled to the state to assist restoration efforts. PSNH said  800  line-workers, and more than 300 tree trimming specialists, were working on the lines and removing trees.
