Connecticut contestant makes semi-finals on ‘Masterchef Junior’

Restaurant guests, a collection of foodies, chefs, and restaurant critics, were seated in a dining room split between the red team (Abby, Logan, and Adaiah) and the blue team (Samuel, Sean, and Oona), and given a menu with two appetizers and two entrees to choose from.

Their choices were tough ones, picked for their highly technical nature by the MCJ judges: Tempura Zucchini Blossoms with Goat Cheese or Spot Prawn Ceviche for appetizer choices, and Loup De Mer with Fennel Trip or Filet Mignon with Fries and Sauteed Spring Mushrooms for entree choices.

The tables turned a little for the entree round, as Adaiah, the 12 year-old contestant from Danbury, admits she has never made Filet Mignon before and struggles a little at gauging the proper temperatures.  The blue team nails each entree dish and ends up getting their orders out before the red team.

Unfortunately, after taking a night to sleep on it, the judges decided that the red team was the winner, leaving two out of the three members to be sent home.  As this was Oona’s third week in the bottom, she, along with Sean, was sent home.
