Enfield police take one person into protective custody after standoff
ENFIELD – A man’s false claim of murder caused a stand off Wednesday morning.
Police closed part of Monroe Road after a man called police and said he has killed his wife and would kill the rest of his family. That turned out to be false.
Neighbors were asked to stay inside during the incident.
Police made the point that this was not a “Swatting Incident,” where a third party calls police and claims to have committed a crime and is held up in a home, forcing police to send a Swat team to the address.
No one was injured in the incident. Police said they were looking at several people in the incident.
