NEWTOWN–The town of Newtown will decide what happens to the former Lanza house.

The home, in which the shooter from the Sandy Hook tragedy and his mother, Nancy, lived in, was inherited by Nancy’s other son, Ryan, after she was killed. A bank took control of the home after Ryan agreed to sell it for $1, according to the Hartford Courant.

The deal was intended to ultimately deed the house over to the town, but while the bank had ownership of the home it burned all the items inside, according to the Courant. The bank said the reasoning was so that no one could sell the items as memorabilia years down the road.

It’s not clear what the town intends to do with the home, but many victims’ families want it torn down.
