HARTFORD – Saturday, Dec. 6 around 2 p.m. police were called to Bluehills Ave, a firehouse, for a Breach of Peace complaint.

Police say that Lt. Scott Cunningham, 46, with Engine #14 had a physical altercation with Lt. Vernon Tyson, 48, of Tactical #1. Both were dispatched to the scene of a fire on Chatham Street.

While inside a home during a working fire, the two men exchanged words, slaps, and engaged in a headlock position, although the details are told differently by each Lieutenant.

Another firefighter, Rory Wentworth, stepped between the two men, separating them with his arms.

Neither Tyson, nor Cunningham agreed to give a sworn written statement and neither of the men were injured.

Neither men reported any previous incidents that might have caused the situation to escalate. No charges were filed.
