LITCHFIELD COUNTY - From a white house in the Litchfield Hills to the actual White House. Landscape artist Emily Buchanan has had a large hand in this year's seasons greetings from Washington: She was selected to paint the White House holiday card.

"It's a huge honor," Buchanan said. While Buchanan usually paints outside, for the President she took her talents indoors and painted a yuletide scene of the White House foyer with both presidential pets -- Portuguese Water Dogs -- sitting in the foreground. "It's been fun through the whole process," Buchanan said.

Buchanan's husband, artist Brendan O'Connell, said of his wife's now famous work, "it has this warm welcoming feeling." One perk of being picked to paint the White House Christmas card? Buchanan and family will be guests of the White House later this week for the annual holiday party.
