In case you are wondering where some of the light snow and flurries is coming from.  It is due high pressure that has  moved off the Maine coast creating a northeast flow which induces snow showers to move in off the Atlantic Ocean and overspread the area.  The light snow and flurries will continue on and off through your Sunday  morning.  Some areas across Connecticut could receive a coating  to as much as a quarter-inch of  snow especially across the higher elevations,  making for a nice winter scene.  Another area of high pressure will move in from the northwest that may allow the skies to clear our for awhile Sunday night into early Monday.  However, just as fast as the skies clear out, clouds roll in quickly Monday afternoon as the high drifts off-shore.   Tuesday will feature some light rain as warmer air works into the region.

Get ready for a big storm on Christmas Eve into Christmas Day as energy coming out of the Pacific Ocean will merge with moisture from Gulf of Mexico and develop into a major winter storm for the mid-west and Great Lakes.  Unfortunately for you snow lovers, this set-up will be a big rainstorm for Connecticut and all of New England as the storm tracks well west of our area.  The combination of the high over the north Atlantic and the storm riding up the Ohio Valley and into western New York State, will create a southerly flow, transporting milder air into the region thus the precipitation will be all rain and not snow.
