Niantic 8-year-old battling cancer finds bone marrow match close to home
We have an update on the bone marrow search for Madeline Guarraia.
Her brother, Anthony, is a “perfect 10/10 match” for bone marrow, according to their mother’s Facebook page.
Amie Guarraia wrote that Anthony was a big surprise when he came because she got pregnant just as Madeline was ending treatment the first time around. Amie says the two have a very close bond, and that this news just solidifies that.
As recently as Sunday, Amie wrote on Facebook that Anthony and Madeline have such a strong connection, but that “it is very unlikely that the children are a match for her bone marrow transplant.”
Amie asks that people continue to attend bone marrow drives because it can help save the lives of many children, not just Madeline.
