Snow plow strikes and kills man in Torrington

TORRINGTON -- A pedestrian has died after he he was  struck by a city plow truck early Sunday morning, according to police.

Fox CT was first on the scene this morning on South Main St, that's where a 25-year-old man was struck by a City of Torrington plow, he was rushed to Charlotte Hungerford Hospital with serious injuries where he later died.

Torrington police have identified the man as Michael Walsh of Torrington.

Police say the accident happened at approximately 5:10 AM. The pavement was covered in slush, there had been fog in the area, after the first snow fall of 2015.

Police had a section of South Main Street taped off and an accident reconstruction team worked to figure out how a town plow struck a man crossing the street early Sunday morning.

The driver of the city plow stayed on the scene and is cooperating with officers-- so far he is not being charged with anything.
