GREENWICH — A 51 year old woman was killed in an accident Tuesday morning as she crossed the street.
The call came in shortly before 7 a.m. Tuesday. Police confirmed the victim’s death at around 8:30 a.m.
Police say Yani Baca of Elmsford, NY was killed in the accident. Baca and a co-worker traveled to Greenwich on a Westchester County mass transportation Bee-Line bus according to police. After exiting the bus, she began to the cross from the west side of King Street to the east side. Baca was struck by a car in the easternmost lane of northbound traffic where she suffered severe injuries and was transported to the Greenwich Hospital where she later died.
The crash closed Route 120 (also known as King Street) near Anderson Hill Road.
Police said the driver of the vehicle did stop remained on the scene.
